Spectacle Dalida sur le divan
“In January 1986, Dalida returned to the land of her childhood, Egypt, to film The Sixth Day. The most famous filmmaker in the East, Youssef Chahine, finally offered her a real film role.
This is where we have chosen to begin the story of this show: at the moment of this rebirth towards the first country, the cradle. Dalida will play this film and will commit suicide shortly afterwards, leaving a last message: “Life is unbearable for me. Forgive me”.
The show? An incarnate presence, both light and deep. A permanent movement carried by the spoken and sung voice and an open piano, like a ship anchored or wavering in the course of time that passes and stirs.
We will also tell the story of Iolanda Gigliotti’s journey, her sufferings, her dramas but also her incredible enthusiasm and her indomitable desire to live. Despite everything, against all odds. Until the last night.
We want to give pride of place to Dalida’s Italianness, that wild, poignant character that made her an unforgettable woman, whose tone and allure are engraved in all memories.
And then, unlike many shows or tributes, staging the glittering Dalida, we want to give the full scope to the great demanding lady, in love with poetry and the absolute. In love with love, one might say.
