Terra e focu
Sometimes things happen by chance! When Jean-Claude Mondoloni was about to leave the island to continue his studies, he discovered the craft training courses offered in Corte in the 1970s. He first studied cabinet making in Pigna and one day (by chance!) entered the pottery workshop of André Truchon. Eli Cristiani, his friend, did his training there. The latter would become his master in 1975!
“I was immediately fascinated by the wheel technique! Taking up training with Eli was not a problem. On the contrary, this idea of transmission is very important to me. It gives meaning to the notions of sharing, knowledge and intellectual enrichment”, says the potter with forty years of experience!
It was with his wife, Marie-Jo, that he created the Terra è Focu workshop in 1995 after ten years of collaboration. Together, they invent and shape their creations: Jean-Claude, passionate about enamelling techniques; Marie-Jo specialised in the painted decoration of dishes, jugs and other terracotta objects. They are always astonished when the kiln is opened and “surprised to discover the results of our research”!
Reception: From April 1st to October 31st. Please call 48 hours in advance.
