As is often the case in agro-pastoral societies, everything is a matter of transmission! Matteu Andreucci’s career is no exception to the rule. “When I was very young, I used to visit the hives of the family farm with my father, who had learned this know-how from his father and grandfather. My father passed on to me all the basics of beekeeping that is respectful of the environment and the bees. I worked for a long time on the mainland while continuing to train theoretically in beekeeping. Each return to Corsica was an opportunity for me to participate in the family business.
One day, the buzzing of the bees became more pressing in the ears of Matteu Andreucci, who decided to take over the family business, which now stretches over four generations. The practice has greatly evolved since the breeding of queens and transhumance punctuate the season, and the hollowed-out chestnut trunk hives of his great-grandfather have evolved towards connected hives. It is thus between tradition and modernity that the family business is taking off again.
Today, in addition to the various honeys in the AOC Corsican honey range, Matteu Andreucci is diversifying his activity with other products (propolis, pollen, aperitifs, aromatic plants, etc.) to satisfy his curiosity and creativity, and to prolong and revitalise the history of the San Biaggiu apiary.
Open from April to October by appointment.
