On the commune of Albitreccia, Alix Gauffreau created her saddlery worshop.Horse is a passion since she was 3 years old, she always wanted to make her job. At the beginning my dream was to work in Republican Guard on horse, but I was too small to work for National Gendamrmerie, she says. Alix decided to go to France to learn in Donzy, a small village in Bourgogne. The young lady learns all the techniques of the job with a professional saddler harness during 2 years.
Her CAP in the pocket, Alix Gauffreau came back in Corsica and decides to set up at home in Albitreccia thanks to her parents”they always helped me in my projects. At the beginning my father let me the garage, we worked to make my workshop with old material, remebers the young lady that welcomes you today in a nice and new workshop and she gave the name of her horse to this one : Atletico.
Alix is the only one to be graduated in Corsica to make this job and knew to create and fidelized her clients. It is a job that is done word-of-mouth.i work with particulars and owner s’ stable, explains the young lady.She also goes to her clients, and in agricol faires in Corsica and particpates in international exhibition such as the 5 stars of Pau and Equita Lyon(thanks to the help of ADEC and collectivité de Corse that allows to meet clients and make discover my activity. I work only by hand in the purest tradition of french saddler, it is a work that takes a long time, patience and rigour.
Saddles, head collar, hiking bridles, belts, or knife sheath are born or reborn between the hands of this passionate and young lady.
It is opened all year long from monday to friday by appointment.
